reasons i’m absolutely in love with this video

• it’s really out here being 33 minutes long. they just talk for THIRTY-THREE MINUTES and it’s really real. 
• they’re wearing their pajamas, which was (obviously) a decision made before the video. they 100% anticipated it being this casual and i appreciate that a lot. they knew what they were getting into.
• this is obviously phil losing some of the amazingphil branding. sure, he still censored the Big Two swears, but he talked about how dan almost hit him in the balls, a wall of penis porn, dan’s open hips, a “soft, warm hole” and drinking to forget. phil used to have a completely child-friendly channel, and he’s started to push away from that some, which i think comes from their realization about their audience (which i talk about more farther in this post)
• it’s just a hangout. it’s like they’re doing a joint liveshow, except it’s edited, and that honestly makes it even better. they edited this video, and it still came out as deep and personal as it did. the time passed so fast, as if we were having a casual conversation. 
• there’s a lot of talk about mental health (albeit sometimes subtle) and character progression and it really shows how they’re real people with real personalities. phil talks about how he’s become less anxious, and dan talks about how he’s become more anxious. he talks about how life is hard and he copes with food and how sometimes he questions if he even has a personality. there’s a lot of depth to it and the things they talk about, and i think it shows us (maybe even more than the tour itself) a new, real side of them.
• one of the biggest things they realized while on tour was how diverse of a group we are. they recognize that the rest of the world thinks we’re all thirteen year old demon phannies, and the tour showed them that that’s not true. they saw that most of us are older, and that we’re mostly really chill and supportive, which, to be honest, i think is something that’s changed a good bit since 2016. the phandom’s matured a lot, and it makes me really happy that they saw that. 
• it really was just one massive domestic bant, and that makes me so soft. i feel really blessed to have been let into their lives like that, and i’m really hoping this is going to be the beginning of a new, more open era between us and them. even if it’s not a massive detail of their lives that we’ve all been waiting to hear, them showing us more of the reality of who they are is a big step, whether it’s toward something drastic or just toward them being more personal with us. i think it’s a step in the right direction, and i can’t wait to see where we find ourselves as time passes. ❤
